*VIDEO* Nashville, North Carolina Police Department Featured on CNN

The Nashville, North Carolina Police Department’s HOPE Initiative was featured in a video segment on CNN yesterday. The video highlights the success of the Nashville Police Department’s police assisted opioid recovery program, as well as the success story of Thomas Spike, who got sober through the HOPE Initiative.

Modeled after the Gloucester Police Department’s Angel Initiative, the HOPE Initiative aims to assist those struggling with addicting to get the help they need without fear of arrest. Since the department’s HOPE Initiative launched in February 2016, 172 people from all over North Carolina, as well as Pennsylvania and California, have gone through the program to get help. Additionally, police have seen a 40 percent drop in crimes related to a substance abuse disorder such as shoplifting, larceny and car break-ins.
