Cornerstone Recovery Center Joins P.A.A.R.I. to Offer Recovery Services to Participants

NEWTON and FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — Gloucester Police Chief Leonard Campanello and John Rosenthal, co-founders of The Police Assisted Addiction and Recovery Initiative (P.A.A.R.I.), are pleased to announce that Cornerstone Recovery Center has joined the team of recovery centers assisting addicts.

“As our list of partner treatment centers continues to grow, so does our hope that we can make a lasting impact on the lives of those who suffer from addiction,” Chief Campanello said. “We are thankful for treatment centers like Cornerstone Recovery, who can see the need for additional resources for our participants, and are willing to step up to meet that need.”

Over the summer, Chief Campanello and businessman John Rosenthal launched P.A.A.R.I. — a nonprofit organization created in response to Gloucester Police Department’s ANGEL Initiative. Rather than arrest their way out of the problem of drug addiction, partnering police departments place those who come to them for help into treatment programs. As partnerships with treatment centers continue to grow, so does P.A.A.R.I.’s ability to support police departments who want to assist their communities in saving lives.

“Cornerstone Recovery Center is honored to partner with P.A.A.R.I. and begin giving back to such an amazing organization,” said Elliott Stewart, Admissions Director at Cornerstone Recovery Center. “We feel this program has, and will, continue to grow to be an amazing resource to those who are lost in their addiction. Cornerstone is dedicated to helping individuals overcome their fears, put their addictions to rest, and start living happy and healthy lives.”

Cornerstone Recovery Center is a 30-bed facility which offers a variety of treatment programs including partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient, outpatient, aftercare treatment, and alumni services. Because no client or addiction is the same as the other, Cornerstone Recovery focuses on tailoring treatment plans for each individual client. In addition to the traditional 12-step recovery program, Cornerstone Recovery Center also offers SMART Recovery®, dual diagnosis treatment, family services, trauma counseling, relapse prevention, Alternative Sentencing Assistance Programs, court liaisons, case management, and holistic services.

“We are continually humbled by the amount of support we have received from treatment centers like Cornerstone Recovery, who reach out to P.A.A.R.I. looking for ways to get involved,” Rosenthal said. “We are eager to begin working with this new center and continue on our mission of saving lives.”

About Cornerstone Recovery Center:cornerstone_full

Established in 2012, Cornerstone Recovery Center is a licensed and Joint Commission Accredited treatment facility also licensed by the Florida Department of Children and Families. The treatment center is staffed by a medical director, psychiatrist, physician assistant, nurses, licensed mental health counselors, social workers, certified addiction professionals and counselors, certified behavioral technicians, and certified recovery and family coaches.

Cornerstone Recovery Center teaches life skills to their patients as they learn to live again and offers assistance with legal matters should clients have outstanding charges related to their addiction. In addition, Cornerstone Recovery also offers relapse prevention services for ongoing maintenance and support.

About P.A.A.R.I.:

P.A.A.R.I. was started to support local police departments as they work with opioid addicts. Rather than arrest our way out of the problem of drug addiction, P.A.A.R.I. committed police departments:

• Encourage opioid drug users to seek recovery
• Help distribute life saving opioid blocking drugs to prevent and treat overdoses
• Connect people suffering with opioid addiction with treatment programs and facilities
• Provide resources to other police departments and communities that want to do more to fight the opioid addiction epidemic

P.A.A.R.I. was created by Gloucester Police Chief Leonard Campanello and John Rosenthal to bridge the gap between the police department and persons suffering from the disease of opiate addiction who are seeking recovery. Since its founding, more than 40 police departments in 14 states have joined as partners with the initiative.
