September 26, 2023- Partner Program Spotlight – Hamilton County QRT, Ohio
On September 26th, PAARI highlighted Captain Tom Fallon and Meagan Guthrie. The Quick Response Team (QRT) is a co-responder deflection program that provides community-based substance use, mental health, homelessness, and other needs-based services, with the immediate goal of connecting Hamilton County residents with the most appropriate care specific to their needs.
September 12, 2023 – Maine Statewide Convening
In Collaboration with the Volunteers of America, Northern New England, PAARI hosted a second Maine Statewide Convening. This event offers individuals who are actively involved in developing non-arrest pathways to treatment and recovery an excellent opportunity to learn from others, exchange resources, and engage in discussions about overcoming obstacles.This statewide convening shared what worked for Maine communities, what other communities may be lacking, and open the floor to other programs in the state
August 29th, 2023- Partner Program Spotlight – Anne Arundel County Crisis Response Team
On August 29th, PAARI highlighted Jennifer Corbin and Lt. Steven Thomas. In response to the growing need for crisis services and the desire to serve individuals in the least restrictive setting, AACMHA developed the CRS to provide an array of behavioral health options and supports for individuals in distress.
August 8th, 2023- Xylazine 101 Webinar
PAARI has been working with research partners Brandeis University and Thomas Jefferson University to develop a response to the emerging threat of xylazine. This animal sedative is being mixed into opioids and other stimulants (often called “tranq” on the streets). As xylazine has been found in an increasing number of overdose deaths around the country, leading to serious skin wounds and safety concerns related to extended heavy sedation. We want to make sure our partners feel well-informed about this emerging threat and are equipped with some best practices on how to address it in your community.
Our webinar will include a presentation by Jason Bienert, a wound care nurse who has been featured in the Washington Post and Wall Street Journal for his work on xylazine.
July 25th, 2023- Partner Program Spotlight – Connie Priddy (Cabell County EMS)
On July 25th, PAARI highlighted Connie Priddy the Director of Quality Compliance at Cabell County EMS. Cabell County Emergency Medical Services. Since 1974 CCEMS has been providing the citizens of Cabell County and the City of Huntington West Virginia with quality emergency medical and rescue technical services.
June 27th, 2023 – Partner Program Spotlight – Sarko Gergerian (Winthrop Clear)
On June 27th, PAARI highlighted Lieutenant Sarko Gergerian and Meredith Hurley. Lt. Gergerian and Ms. Hurley are founding members of the Community and Law Enforcement Assisted Recovery Program (C.L.E.A.R.). C.L.E.A.R. is a network of community partners, at the Winthrop Police Department and the Winthrop Health Department, that ensures individuals seeking support for substance use disorders or mental health are connected to community-based service providers.

May 30th, 2023- Partner Program Spotlight – Corporal Erica Valvano (Hope One)
On May 30th, PAARI highlighted Corporal Erica Valvano. The Hope One mobile substance use recovery and resource outreach vehicle contributes to their “Stigma-Free” campaign that promotes sensitivity and support to people struggling with substance use and mental health disorders. Corporal Erica Valvano is passionate about breaking down the stigma surrounding substance abuse and mental illness so that people feel cared for as they seek treatment and support.
April 25, 2023 – Partner Program Spotlight – Dan Cortez (Chelsea Police Department)
On April 25th, PAARI highlighted Dan Cortez Community Engagement Specialist – HUB Manager at Chelsea Police Department. Chelsea, as part of the City’s public health response to the opiate crisis, first responders and harm-reduction professionals visit individuals that have recently experienced an overdose. The aim is to guide individuals to treatment options and ultimately a path to recovery. Overdose awareness and support is also provided to family members.
March 28, 2023 – Partner Program Spotlight – Jeff Tate (Shakopee Police Department)
On March 28th, PAARI highlighted Chief Jeff Tate, Chief of Police at Shakopee Police Department. Shakopee’s Recovery Assistance Program first launched in 2016 with the goal of providing scholarships to Shakopee residents seeking drug or alcohol treatment.

On February 28th, PAARI highlighted Vicky Butler and Mike Skowyra. Plymouth County Outreach is a multi-faceted collaboration of the 27 municipal police departments in Plymouth County, as well as Bridgewater State University Police Department, working together with Recovery Coaches and community organizations, and coalitions to make treatment, resources, and harm reduction tools more accessible to those living with substance use disorder and their loved ones.

January 31, 2023 – PAARI Partner Spotlight- Families Against Narcotics / Hope Not Handcuffs Michigan
On January 31st, PAARI highlighted Judge Linda Davis. Hope Not Handcuffs was created by Judge Linda Davis, former District Court Judge in Macomb County Michigan and Executive Director of the Michigan-based Families Against Narcotics (FAN). Since the inception of FAN in 2007, the organization has grown to over 22 chapters throughout the Michigan.
