*Media Advisory* EB HOPE to Host First Substance Abuse Drop-In Center Session for 2016

EAST BRIDGEWATER and NEWTON — East Bridgewater Police Chief John Cowan, a member of EB HOPE, and P.A.A.R.I. are pleased to announce that EB HOPE will host its first Substance Abuse Drop-In Center session of the new year tomorrow night.

WHO:EBHOPElogo

EB HOPE, a non-profit volunteer organization started in 2011, is a collaboration of members from the community, including local police, school department personnel, local town government, drug treatment and recovery members, the local clergy and residents suffering from substance abuse and/or their family members.

WHEN:

Thursday, Jan. 7 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.

WHERE:

Community Covenant Church, 400 Pleasant St., East Bridgewater

WHAT:

EB HOPE’s Substance Abuse Drop-in Center sessions are held on the first and third Thursday of every month at the Community Covenant Church in East Bridgewater and are designed to provide immediate support, guidance, information and resources on an urgent and regular basis to help those in need. During the first four drop-in sessions in November and December of last year, nearly 60 people visited the center and received a variety of substance abuse assistance services.

Substance abuse assistance and resources provided by the program include bi-monthly meetings, information on the availability of mental health services, training on the use of nasal Naloxone (Narcan), referral and access to treatment services, family education and support, and faith-based intervention and support.

At this week’s session, EB HOPE will welcome the Massachusetts Department of Veterans and Teen Challenge of Brockton as new members, as well as a group of new Angel Volunteers who were trained this week. Angel Volunteers, who have experience with addiction and recovery, are available to share their personal experiences and provide guidance to those struggling with addiction.
