EB HOPE to Host Substance Abuse Drop-In Center Session on Thursday

Residents Will Receive Automated Telephone Notifications

EAST BRIDGEWATER — East Bridgewater Police Chief John Cowan is pleased to announce that EB HOPE will host the first of two Substance Abuse Drop-In Center sessions for the month of February this week.

Police will be sending an automated telephone call out to residents of East Bridgewater, West Bridgewater, Bridgewater, Whitman, Hanson, Rockland, and Halifax on Wednesday, Feb. 3 at approximately 6:30 p.m. to inform the public of this vital resource and to provide details about the event. The department is using this method to contact the public because it has been listed as the number one reason why attendees report they visit the drop-in center.

Additionally, in a period of just a few days, police placed four people into treatment through their EB Hope program.EBHOPElogo

“Since launching our addiction recovery initiative this fall, we have continued to work with our community and partner police departments to help participants receive treatment,” Chief Cowan said. “We encourage residents to attend these drop-in sessions to learn how they, or a loved one, can obtain the support and guidance they need to recover.”

WHO:

EB HOPE, a non-profit volunteer organization started in 2011, is a collaboration of members from the community, including local police, school department personnel, local town government, drug treatment and recovery members, the local clergy and residents suffering from substance abuse and/or their family members.

WHEN:

Thursday, Feb. 4 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.

WHERE:

Community Covenant Church, 400 Pleasant St., East Bridgewater

WHAT:

EB HOPE’s Substance Abuse Drop-in Center sessions are held on the first and third Thursday of every month at the Community Covenant Church in East Bridgewater and are designed to provide immediate support, guidance, information and resources on an urgent and regular basis to help those in need.

Substance abuse assistance and resources provided by the program include bi-monthly meetings, information on the availability of mental health services, training on the use of Nasal Naloxone (Narcan), referral and access to treatment services, family education and support, and faith-based intervention and support.
