Police Captain, Shakopee Police Department

Why do you want to be a PAARI Pro?

“I have a deep passion for addressing chemical dependency issues in the community I serve as well as supporting recovery efforts. My experience in law enforcement and treatment court has equipped me with a strong understanding of the challenges people face in accessing treatment and support for substance use disorders. I have worked directly with high-risk populations and have been involved our recovery assistance program and treatment court while collaborating with other local agencies to improve access to care. I am eager to expand my impact by contributing to a network that supports law enforcement, first responders, and healthcare providers in combating addiction.”

About:

I am a dedicated law enforcement professional with over two decades of service to the Shakopee Police Department in Minnesota. Starting my career in 2006, I have held a variety of roles, including Patrol Officer, DARE Officer, Field Training Officer, Investigator, Patrol Sergeant, and Investigations Sergeant. Throughout my tenure, I have consistently demonstrated leadership and a commitment to public safety, ultimately earning my current position as Captain.

I am a 2005 graduate of St. Cloud State University, where I earned a bachelor’s degree in Elective Studies with an emphasis in Criminal Justice. Furthering my education, I graduated in 2024 from Northwestern University’s prestigious School of Police Staff and Command and also received his Basic Emergency Management Certificate in the same year. With a strong commitment to supporting the community, I have served as the Law Enforcement Liaison for the Scott County Treatment Court since 2007. My efforts in this role have helped bridge the gap between law enforcement and individuals navigating the court system. Most importantly I have built strong community relationships as well as partnerships. In 2024, I was appointed to the Treatment Court Initiative Advisory Committee, further solidifying my dedication to criminal justice reform and community rehabilitation.
