LakeHaven Recovery Center Joins The Gloucester Initiative
GLOUCESTER — Chief Leonard Campanello and Mayor Sefatia Romeo Theken are pleased to announce that LakeHaven Recovery Center in Florida is joining the Gloucester Police Department’s ANGEL Initiative. 
The Gloucester ANGEL program allows people who suffer from addiction to turn over their remaining drug supply and paraphernalia to the Gloucester Police Department without the threat of arrest. Those in need of help are put into treatment programs as opposed to jail cells. The policy went into effect last month in an effort to address a growing opioid epidemic and to reduce the number of overdoses in Massachusetts. This summer, Chief Campanello and businessman John Rosenthal launched The Police Assisted Addiction and Recovery Initiative (P.A.A.R.I.) — a new nonprofit organization created in response to Gloucester’s revolutionary drug addiction program and the immediate positive feedback from local, state and national groups.
Chief Campanello and Mayor Romeo Theken are excited to add LakeHaven as one of The Gloucester Initiative’s valued treatment centers to help those struggling with addiction.
About LakeHaven Recovery Center
Lake Haven, a 100-bed substance abuse treatment center, is situated on Pompano Beach, Fla. After completing the “New Beginnings” orientation process, guests are placed in one of three unique programs:
The Traditional Program
This alcohol and drug treatment program bases its foundation on the highly successful principals of Alcoholics and Narcotics Anonymous. The program has been designed to not only address addiction, but also the underlying causes and co-occurring mental health issues.
New Life
The program is designed for individuals who already have a strong spiritual involvement in their lives, as well as those who want to have a deep spiritual connection in their personal journey to recovery. Clients are offered individual, group or family therapy, faith-based support groups, bible study, weekly church services, presentations by faith-based speakers, and more.
First Call
In this program, the focus is on the individual unique needs of first responders, who often deal with tragedy and trauma on a daily basis. First Call consists of a comprehensive evaluation, individual, group and family therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing therapy, neuro-bio feedback and a comprehensive aftercare plan for when the patient returns home. Guests are encouraged to get involved in Alcoholics Anonymous, Narcotics Anonymous, special psycho-educational lectures and recreational therapy.
