Dream Recovery International Joins The Gloucester Initiative
Gloucester Initiative Surpasses 200 Participants In Treatment
GLOUCESTER — Chief Leonard Campanello and Mayor Sefatia Romeo Theken are pleased to announce that Dream Recovery International, located in Boca Raton, Fla., joined the Gloucester Police Department’s ANGEL Initiative.
As of Tuesday morning, 210 people have been placed into treatment programs by The Gloucester Initiative since June 1, when the program began.
The Gloucester ANGEL program allows people who suffer from addiction to turn over their remaining drug supply and paraphernalia to the Gloucester Police Department without the threat of arrest. Those in need of help are put into treatment programs as opposed to jail cells. The policy went into effect last month in an effort to address a growing opioid epidemic and to reduce the number of overdoses in Massachusetts. “We know the devastating effects addiction can have on a person and their loved ones,” said Scott Frankel, CEO and founder of Dream Recovery International. “We work with clients to get to the roots of their addiction and then work to create a support network during and after treatment to ensure our guests maintain a happy and healthy life moving forward. We are honored to be working with the Gloucester Police Department to change lives for the better.”
This summer, Chief Campanello and businessman John Rosenthal launched The Police Assisted Addiction and Recovery Initiative (P.A.A.R.I.) — a new nonprofit organization created in response to Gloucester’s revolutionary drug addiction program and the immediate positive feedback from local, state and national groups.
Chief Campanello and Mayor Romeo Theken greatly appreciate Dream Recovery International’s support and commitment to furthering The Gloucester Initiative’s mission of assisting all those struggling to combat their addiction.
